We often ask ourselves, “Which career is right for me?” But perhaps the better question is, “Do I really know myself?”

Career clarity begins with self-awareness. Understanding our strengths helps us recognise what we naturally do well, while understanding our weaknesses shows us where we need to learn, improve, or seek support. Self-awareness can help us make more informed career choices and align our abilities with the paths we choose.

Our strengths are not just things we are good at. They can be the qualities that give us confidence, energy and the ability to perform consistently. At the same time, weaknesses should not be viewed as failures. They are simply areas where development may be needed.

For students especially, this awareness is important. Choosing a career only because it is popular, because friends are choosing it, or because someone else expects it can create confusion later.

When you know yourself better, you can choose with greater clarity.

The journey to the right career therefore does not begin with a list of professions. It begins with understanding the person who will pursue that profession.

Know yourself. Understand your strengths. Accept your areas of growth. Then choose your direction with clarity.
